Genocea is seeking a talented and dedicated Research Associate to join our dynamic and enthusiastic team. As part of the Discovery group, the Research Associate will support sample processing and characterization of T cell responses to support the development of novel immunotherapeutics for cancer, including personalized cancer vaccine clinical trials. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, diligent and detail-oriented, and have the ability to carry out experiments with limited supervision. Demonstrate the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced environment and a strong desire to learn new concepts and techniques. Strong communication skills will be key to work well within a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
Diligently analyze data, prepare summaries, and present them for internal company meetings.
Troubleshoot issues during experimental process under supervision
Attends team meetings for experimental planning and provides progress updates to the group
Operation of liquid-handling robots
Blood processing and primary human cell culture
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and diverse team
Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task
Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills
Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and/or cell sorting is preferred
Excellent record keeping abilities to adequately document protocols and experimental data.
A theoretical understanding of and significant experience with common techniques related to cellular immunology
Familiarity with cell imaging and liquid-handling robots
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, communicate results and compile technical reports
Capacity to adapt, and a strong desire to learn new concepts and techniques.
Prior experience in Immunological-based techniques including ELISA-based assays (e.g. MSD) and T cell assays mainly related to screening for vaccine candidates (e.g. cell sorting, multicolor flow-cytometry, ELISpot)
Maintain basic knowledge of principles in field(s) at hand
Maintain accurate laboratory records and notebooks
Multicolor flow-cytometry (surface and ICCS)
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in immunology and/or cancer biology in academia or industry
Knowledge of advances in immunology, understanding of cancer biology is preferred
Experience in a high throughput screening environment is preferred
